2025 and Beyond

As we wrap up another successful year, YREC is incredibly proud of the work we've done with our PBIS program, CARES. We've worked hard to ensure that our entire learning community consistently embodies the values of Commitment, Accountability, Resiliency/Respect, Empathy, and Success. These principles have shaped the positive culture and environment in our school. Looking ahead to next year, our goal is to further engrain CARES into everyday classroom expectations in lessons and create even more opportunities for students to showcase and live out these values. Together, we’ll continue to build a supportive and thriving community where every student has the chance to succeed and grow.

Keeping your child away from drugs during the Summer

Summer can be a time of freedom and fun for teenagers, but it also comes with challenges. Here are some effective strategies that parents can use to help keep their high school children away from drugs:

  • Enroll in Summer Programs: Look for local or virtual summer camps, workshops, or classes in areas like art, sports, coding, or music. Having a structured schedule reduces idle time that might lead to risky behavior.

  • Family Activities: Plan regular family outings, day trips, or vacations. Keeping them busy with family activities can strengthen bonds and create memories while reducing opportunities for peer pressure.

  • Talk About Drugs Early and Often:. Don’t wait for them to come to you—bring it up in a non-confrontational way. It’s important to listen as much as you talk.

  • Discuss Peer Pressure: Teach them how to confidently say no and to choose friends who support their healthy decisions.

Set Rules:

Be clear about your expectations for behavior, especially regarding drugs and alcohol. Establish curfews, rules about parties, and expectations about responsible behavior.
